George Orwell: The Road to Wigan Pier

This book felt like a perceptive and heartfelt piece of writing. Some of Orwell’s opinions are very dated, and his writing is clearly a product of his time and status (viz. his list of people he describes as ‘cranks’, which prominently includes ‘the fruit-juice drinker’…); yet, despite that, many of his comments on class divisions in english society are still relevant today.
